homeowners sifting through what used to be their belongings in their homes, how do you put a price on that? live in san bruno, traci grant nbc bay area news. >> thank you. >>> more examples of victimizing the victims. you see it after every disaster. now san bruno police tell us they've arrested four people trying to get free food and other help by posing as victims of the explosion. police say bianti taylor tried to cash in tuesday. they have not been charged, but two other women were arrested for trying to pass themselves off as victims and get aide as well. heightened concerns about the smell of gas prompted the evacuation as two bay area schools today. portollo elementary is located less than a mile from the explosion. firefighters and pg&e workers were called out. it turned out there wasn't a leak, but parents praised the school's quick actions. >> just the principal smelled a little bit of gas, and he's very smart to take the precaution and evacuate the school. especially where we're in the area where the gas pipe explosion occurred. so they evacuated the school, everything was done

camera one man told us after searching for hours, he didn't find anything that he could keep. well, the people with red-tagged homes are facing the worst challenges. some work is still being done on the green-tagged homes where residents have been able to return. >> this lady here, the blast actually broke her window in the master bedroom and the soot carried throughout the house. >> reporter: serve pro is one of the countries pg&e is paying to go through these homes and remove the residue and scent left in these homes that could cause respiratory problems. these burned bits on the ground are pieces of paper, photos or chemicals that crews are picking up. public works is worried about what would happen to the ash and chemicals if weather forecasts are accurate and it actually rains this weekend. these bags filled with rocks are being placed around catch basins to filter out sediment and hazardous materials before they get washed into the bay. >> right here where we are, we're in the lowest location, so everything is going to run this way if it rains. >> reporter: now, the city of s

. >> thanks, rob. a warning for women in the east bay. a sexual predator is on the prowl using a familiar mode of attack. kristi smith is live in walnut creek with more on what to electric out for. christie? >> reporter: anything out of the ordinary, people wandering around or seem like they don't belong. this is the fourth sexual assault at the same apartment complex here in walnut creek. in one of the earlier incidents, the man walked up to the door and was able to barge his way in after the woman answered. this time investigators are not sure how the attacker got in. it happened again at the park regency apartment yesterday evening. a woman in her 20s was home alone and sheriffs investigators are calling it a home invasion and a sexual assault. they say this one doesn't appear that anything was taken from the apartment. at the same time a berkeley man is still in jail and it linked him to a july sixth rape. he is charged with two attempted rapes here. he has pleaded not guilty and the family said he wasn't even in the area at the time. live in walnut creek, christie smith, today in the bay.

the blown out well behind the worst offshore oil spill in the u.s. history. for more on that, we go to kristin dahlgren, live in for us in louisiana with more. kristin, good morning. >> good morning to you, lynn. day 150 and word that that relief well that they started drilling shortly after this all started has finally intersected with the 2 1/2 miles below the floor of the gulf. admiral thad allen said that the two wells were connected and that the next step was to pump mud and cement down into that well to permanently seal it off. one step in the recovery. oil continues to wash ashore. and take a look at these pictures. so many dead fish. almost looks like a gravel road. scientists say it was caused by lack of oxygen and it's not uncommon here, but people are asking that the oil dispersants didn't play into that. meantime, bp's outgoing ceo tony hayward inflamed so many temperses defended bp's record testifying in britain saying there is no need to rethink deepwater drilling. meantime, here in louisiana, a push to start up the deepparty drilling to get the oil workers back to wor
